Brunei also known officially as Nation of Brunei, Adobe of Peace is a country in the island of Borneo. The country is the only sovereign country in Borneo; remaining territories are part of other counties on another mainland. Population of the country is estimated to be 423,000 in 2016. The capital is Bandar Seri Begawan, largest settlement in the island of Borneo. Brunei was an empire till 16th and 17th century. It remained strong until early 19th century, after which it became to decline in power and was annexed by British in late 19th century. During World War II, constitution was written and an armed rebellion attempt was clamped down in this period. The country got its independence from United Kingdom in 1984. It has today, one of the most developed economies in Asia and is considered as a developed country.

Brunei Flag is the national flag of Brunei. The current flag was adopted on 29th September 1959. It consists of a field of yellow cut by a diagonal of white and black with the red crest of Brunei present in the middle. The proportions of the flag are 1:2 that means the width is double the height of the flag. The current flag has been used since 1906 without the crest. The crest was added to the flag during the introduction of constitution in 1959. Yellow color of the flag has been attributed to represent the royal standard, which is seen in many south eastern countries of Asia. There are also inscribed words in Arabic which translates to sentence “Always render service with God’s guidance” in the crest.
